Readers in the Round Pen Book Club

A Reading Club at Stable Hands for Ages 8–12

At Stable Hands, the round pen is more than just a place to train horses — it’s where trust is built, skills are sharpened, and confidence grows. That’s exactly what we aim to do with our young readers.

Readers in the Round Pen Book Club invites kids ages 8–12 to gather in a circle of stories, friendship, and imagination. Just like horses learning to move with purpose, our readers explore new genres, build reading stamina, and discover the joy of storytelling — all within the safe, supportive rhythm of the farm.

Whether we’re turning pages in the hayloft, sharing tales by the tack room or sharing our stories directly with the minis, every session is a chance to grow, connect, and gallop into new adventures — one chapter at a time.

4 weeks in a row on Tuesdays.
October 28, November 4, 11, 18

What’s Happening This Session:
Participants will take a trip back in history to learn about Pack Horse Librarians – librarians who delivered books to rural and remote communities, particularly in the Appalachian Mountains, during the Great Depression. Each week learners will explore a new book, create a fun craft, read to an equine friend, and have “horse time”.
