Morgan Hengel
PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor with Specialized Training for Equine Services for Veterans
I started in 2018, shortly after moving to the Wausau area, and found Stable Hands through a Google search when I was looking for local barns and horse opportunities in the area.
I started as a volunteer, side walking and horse leading in Therapeutic Riding (TR) classes. Shortly after, I began my mentorship program to become an instructor and achieved my certification in Spring of 2019. At that point, I continued teaching TR classes. Since certification, I have worn a few hats in my time at Stable Hands, including Equine Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. I’ve moved away from the Wausau area now, but still travel to Stable Hands periodically to teach.
I work part time at a vet clinic where I live, but outside of that and Stable Hands, I love spending my free time with family. We enjoy everything outdoors, including fishing, hunting, hiking, kayaking and spending time at the barn with my horse. We also have a house full of pets that keep us busy!
One of my favorite things to do in the class is get riders outside! It’s so fun to see how they progress in their riding by changing environments, and the horses enjoy it too!
